On the Healthcare Experience: “I believe exceptional and caring communication is key to building effective healthcare teams and ensuring a great patient experience. We can all benefit from more consciously honing our communication skills, a commitment that can transform our lives and the lives of others. I’ve had the privilege of being part of life-changing and inspirational stories that attest to the powerful consequences of this commitment. A director reduced her staff turnover significantly by improving her listening skills. A nursing leader healed and transformed her relationship with her teenage daughter. And a physician shared his heart-wrenching reaction to low patient experience scores and how he opened himself to relearning and proceeded to better connect with and meet the needs of his patients and colleagues. Yes, we can always be better …. and “better” spreads.”
Favorite Quote: As we embark on the grand redesign of health care over the next twenty years, let us not neglect the caring part of the health care experience. We need to reduce medical errors, but we also need compassion, connection and concern.” – Ian Morrison, Author of Leading Change in Healthcare
